I’m linking up with Emily again for Embrace the Camera.

It’s so nice to have my teenager back.
For a while last year, she was into pushing limits.
These days, she’s more into pushing buttons on the phone.
Best wishes for an awesome week!

First up, me and the teenager before I went out for New Year’s Eve.
Second, me and my girly friend soon after the ball dropped.
I hope to embrace the camera even more this year.
No diet resolutions here.
I want to change my eating habits, and plan to, but I don’t want to pressure myself.
Besides, everyone has eat better resolutions.
This year, I tried to pick attainable goals.
And by attainable, I mean, I don’t feel pressured to complete any of these.
I think that’ll make it easier to actually achieve them.
I am going to be SWAMPED for the next month between school, homework, and moving but I didn’t want to disappear the whole time so I’m sharing some more of those old photos. (If you’re curious, check out 1999 and 2004/05.)
I might also have a random post or two when I can fit them in.

I love the sleeping pictures.
That’s Bea and her cousin.
They’re only a couple months apart and have been always been close.
I’m pretty sure Miss Margaret was pulling her sister’s hair.
She used to think that was so funny.
She was a stubborn two year old. (I don’t know where she got that from.)
But the stubbornness worked for her when she was determined to do something like swing all by herself.
“Family” game night.
Miss Margaret is sitting on the lap of one of the coolest chicks I know whom we were staying with at the time.
My little monkey fell asleep during timeout.
Too cute.
“No paparazzi please!”
“Fine, if you must, be quick about it at least.”
My favorite cat of all time.
He recently passed away at 15 years old.
RIP Vincey.
My sister playing Ring Around the Rosie with the girls.
Miss Margaret had the weirdest smile that year.
I love my hair in this shot.
The final baby bump.
When the kids carved pumpkins, they got really into it.
What a happy bee.
I won second place in a costume contest for this one.
I think the baby bump filling out the shape is what cinched it.
That’s it for now. More coming soon.
I admit it.
I am an Instagram user and lover.
I love that I can take simple images and slap a pretty filter on them and beautify the little moments that I don’t really want to capture on the big camera.
I load them up and share.
I also really enjoy and am constantly inspired by other users’ photos.
Simple moments like a beautiful day in a beautiful yard.
A simple shot of the skyline of the city I love so much.
Craft projects that we’re working on.
The ducks that beg for bread almost daily.
And Barney wanting to get out and chase the ducks.
My porch garden.
Home sweet home.
Rain or shine.
Goofy sweet dogs and sweet dogs that play with rocks.
My sweet silly girl.
A note from my sweet girl that has now been erased.
(It says “mom you are preety love, Tessa.)
A flower that she picked for me that I put in a goblet with some water on the porch.
A week later it’s still in bloom, but I want to remember it when it’s not.
A perfect book title.
I feel that way most nights unfortunately.
When the weather is cold but we still want to swim, we hit the hot tub.
And a million other random moments like: an hour focused on doodling – playing beer pong using a door for the table – editing pictures while my guy is playing beer pong - all the change we had saved up in the past few months (1,089 pennies) – an organized desktop – my favorite sparkly Sketchers.

Have you seen The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet?
It’s an intriguing new show on Lifetime.
Amanda interviews famous women and talks to them about all the intimate and personal issues we would usually only talk about with our best friend.
The goal is to help women recognize the beautiful sameness between us all.
There are a few questions that she asks all her guests:
* What is your vice?
* What is your favorite sex position?
* What would you tell your 14 year old self?
I would like to take a stab at answering these.
I would also love to hear your answers too.
*****
I have a couple vices.
I’ve been thinking about it and I’ve decided that my biggest vice is food.
I have used food as both a personal reward and as a punishment.
“I did accomplish a lot today, I deserve a sweet treat.”
”Life sucks anyway, so I might as well eat until I can’t eat anymore and get as fat as I can.”
Don’t worry, I am honestly about 80% satisfied with my body image.
I don’t know what my issue with food is but the first step is recognizing it.
*****
As for my favorite sex position, I can’t answer that one here.
My family reads this and I think I’ve traumatized them all enough for a lifetime.
(If you are just dying to know, you can shoot me an email.)
*****
I have a LOT to say to my 14 year old self.
I wonder if I would have listened to me at all?
*Note: these are pictures of pictures so they’re not high quality but my teenaged self and I remember when these were taken.
Now, the first thing I would tell me is “you are beautiful, accept it, embrace it”.
“Your face will clear up and you’re not the only one with acne so don’t feel so bad.”
”You do have a beautiful smile. Let everyone see it.”
”Listen to Rutsch (my favorite teacher). He is teaching you some of the most important life lessons you will ever need.”
“Do what you love. Do everything you can to keep doing what you love.”
“Learn from your mistakes and then let them go.”
”Don’t listen to your mom when she tells you those glasses look cute. Pick your frames out before they dilate your eyes. Trust me.”
“You are not as big as you look when you wear those bulky/baggy clothes.”
“You have nothing to hide, so don’t.”
“You don’t have to look like everyone else. Embrace your own style.”
“You are amazingly intelligent. Don’t let anybody or anything knock you off course.”
”You are touching people’s lives and hearts and you don’t even know it. Keep it up.”
“Listen to Jon. He’s telling the truth.”
“Be proud of your accomplishments.”
”You are beautiful!”
“Keep your back straight, your shoulders back, and ALWAYS keep your head up.”
”Keep writing about your feelings. Keep creating art. Keep being you.”
“Your family and friends don’t love you because they have to, they love you because you are beautiful inside and out.”
“Don’t EVER think you are alone or unloved.”
**************
What about you?
My daughter Miss Rose is going to be 14 this month.
I wonder what would happen if she listened, actually listened to all of these things.
I think I’m going to share them with her and see what happens.
